MONTREAL HIGH-LITES

Arrive Montreal and check into your centrally located gay-friendly hotel accommodation where you will stay for the next 2 or 3 nights – you choose!

Montreal, the second largest city in Canada, after Toronto, is the largest bilingual city in North America and draws upon the combined strengths of its French and British roots to attract newcomers from around the world.  It’s old world charm and New World effervescence are unquestionably woven into the fibre of the metropolis, but it’s the wondrous amalgam of cultures that gives Montreal it unique cachet.

The Village, just east of downtown, is one of the largest queer districts in North America. Throughout most of the year, it’s a quiet and quirky neighborhood of gays, lesbians, families and cozy B+Bs housed in century-old duplexes and triplexes. And from June to September, the Village is a big celebration of diversity, where out-of-towners mix with locals, dine al fresco, shop profusely, and relax under the sun with a cocktail or two or dance the night away at Club Unity, the city’s most popular gay bar!  We’ve included a visit to Cabaret Mado, alegendary venue named in honor of its legendary owner, popular drag queen Mado. This Sainte Catherine Street hotspot is a great place to dance and catch some terrific cabaret – here you will enjoy a Rainbow Martini especially from Queen Mado! – Exclusive to Rainbow High travelers.

On your first day in Montreal, we’ve included the Hop On Hop Off double-decker tour; your two-day ticket allows you to enjoy the full two-hour tour, or hop on and off at your leisure at various stops throughout Montreal.  Visit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canada's oldest and one of its most important art institutions, founded in 1860.  Also, be sure to shop! – shopping to Montrealers is as important as dining out; a visit to Simon’s department store on Ste-Catharine is a must for great Quebec inspired fashion; Old Montreal for hand-made crafts and unique souvenirs and high-end shopping on rue Sherbrooke are recommended.  Oh and guys, make sure to shop along Rue Peel which is known for great men’s fashions.

After an exhausting morning of shopping it’s time for a Montreal tradition – lunch at Swartz’s Deli!  Home of theWorld Famous Original Smoked Meat with over 80 years of tradition!  Swartz’s Deli is the oldest deli in Canada, a Montreal classic…you won’t want to miss this.

For those lucky enough to stay an extra night in Montreal you’ll enjoy one of the most popular places in town, Suite 701 in the heart of Old Montreal.  Sophisticated Montrealers choose Suite 701 for its unique modern brasserie cuisine and relaxed, elegant setting.  Ranked #1 of the top 10 VIP lounges in Toronto and Montreal, Suite 701 Restaurant lounge is well known by Montreal's elite – Indulge in a laid-back atmosphere with a creative, urban menu courtesy of Executive Chef Yves Lowe.

Vive La Différence!
